Zahid, a computer science doctoral student at UCD attended the 6th Heidelberg Laureate Forum took place on September 23–28, 2018 in Heidelberg, Germany. The forum brings together laureates of prestigious awards in computer science and mathematics, and 200 young researchers from around the world to provide an inspirational interaction.
The forum provides a platform to early stage researchers where laureates provide formal plenary lectures and lead small group discussions. It helps to develop connections between young researchers and potential collaborators to bridge the gap between the generations of computer science and mathematics researchers. During the event Zahid met with winners of Abel Prize, ACM AM Turing Award, and Field Medal. He was sponsored by ROMBERG Grant from Heidelberg University. According to Zahid, “It was an honor for me to attend this prestigious event at the early stage of my PhD and met with the great minds of the computer science including ACM Turing Award and Abel Prize Winners. I also get a chance to meet with Noble Prize Winner Dr. William Daniel Phillips who earns this title in 1997 in Physics.” |
